Pastor of Kids & Youth - Capstone Church

Capstone Church’s Pastor of Kids & Youth is devoted to helping the next generations become authentic disciples of Jesus who show and share his kindness, grace, and truth.

Overarching Goal:

The overarching goal of the Pastor of Kids & Youth is to develop and sustain vibrant Kids and Youth ministries across Capstone Church’s two church sites: Capstone West and Capstone East.

The Pastor of Kids & Youth will:

  1. Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to provide meaningful ministry to the next generations in their various settings (i.e., Kids ministry, Youth ministry).
  2. Be chiefly responsible for the implementation and oversight of safety procedures for all work among kids and youth at Capstone Church’s various sites and ministry settings.
  3. Create and/or curate strong discipleship resources, creating pathways to help the next generations become authentic disciples of Jesus.
  4. Help parents/guardians grow in the capacity to disciple their children to be like Jesus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and sustain strong volunteer-led ministries for kids and youth at Capstone Church.
  • Effectively communicate with volunteers and parents/guardians.
  • Be a present figure at both of Capstone Church’s sites (Capstone West, Capstone East) to build relationships with kids and youth and to support volunteers, parents/guardians, and families.
  • Develop a discipleship strategy for Capstone Church’s next generations across multiple sites.
  • Through the development of an outreach strategy, create regular opportunities to bless, build relationships with, and evangelize kids and youth outside of Capstone Church, pointing them to the kindness, grace, and truth of Jesus (i.e., VBS, soccer camps, Youth Drop-in Center, community barbecues, etc.).

All-Staff Commitments:

  • Develop and execute annual ministry plans, goals, and strategies.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of disciple-making—size is not the only metric for success.
  • Participate in all staff meetings, retreats, training, and events.
  • Attend Sunday worship gatherings at Capstone Church.
  • Participate in a House Church (weekly small group discipling environment for adults). Maintain a lifestyle consistent with, agree to, and sign The Alliance Canada’s Statement of Faith and Call to Excellence.
  • Work towards the health, beauty, and joy of Capstone Church, its attendees, leaders, volunteers, and staff, and the city we call home.

Successful Candidate will:

  • Understand and act in accordance with Capstone’s mission, strategy, and yearly goals, and participate in church ministry events.
  • Have a deep passion for the next generations, will know how to organize teams, recruit volunteers, disciple kids and youth, and equip parents/guardians to do the same.
  • Have a love for people inside and outside of the church.
  • Demonstrate Christ-like character and agree to walk in an ongoing transformational journey of becoming more Christ-like through the power of the Holy Spirit, personal devotional practices, and biblical community.
  • Demonstrate appropriate leadership qualities (i.e., self-starter, hard working, accountable, lifelong learner, team player, etc.).
  • Have strong administrative skills, be detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Hold theological training at a Bachelor degree level or higher from an accredited school or acceptable equivalents, in keeping with the requirements of The Alliance Canada’s policy on licensing.
  • Be licensed (or able to be) with The Alliance Canada.
  • Be legally able to work in Canada.

Final Details:

  • This position reports to the Lead Pastor of Capstone Church.
  • This is a full-time position (40 hours a week).
