Benefits Provider Change


We're excited to announce a change of benefit providers from Canada Life to Sun Life. With this transition we will have the same level of coverage, with better customer service and increased savings for members and churches.


Important things to note:
  • Benefit coverage for those who are currently in our benefit program will transition to Sun Life July 1, 2024.
  • Your plan balances and claims history will be transferred to Sun Life from Canada Life.
  • Current year balances, as well as lifetime balances, are not resetting due to this change of benefits provider.
  • Any pre-approvals will be grandfathered to Sun Life.
  • The Canada Life benefit card will no longer be active after June 30, 2024 and My Canada Life at Work (member site) access will be disabled.
  • You will be able to submit claims to Canada Life for reimbursement up to June 30th. Starting July 1st, all your claims must be submitted to Sun Life.
  • If you missed submitting claims through Canada Life for the period of January 1st to June 30th, you can submit these claims through Sun Life as of July 1st.
  • After July 1st, the next time you visit your dentist, chiropractor, pharmacist, etc., let them know that you and any eligible dependants have a new health benefits provider.
  • The District health benefit plan runs from January to December.

Registration information:

  • You will receive a welcome email from Sun Life on July 1st (or 2nd due to the holiday). This will prompt you to register at, at which time you will have access to the welcome guide for a period of 30 days.
    • Please watch the videos below for detailed instructions on how to register. You will need to use the email address where you received the benefit change correspondence from the WCD, or the welcome email from Sun Life, to complete your registration.
    • After you register, you are able to change your email address to your personal email.
    • You will receive access to your new e-benefit card as soon as you register.
    • During registration be sure to enter your beneficiary details. This information is extremely important.
    • Your banking information will not be transferred during this transition. You will need to enter your banking information to ensure claims are reimbursed quickly and efficiently.
  • Your e-booklet will be available by mid-July on your Sun Life profile.
