Health Benefits – General information

Please send any questions or concerns to finance-benefits@thewcd.ca

Benefits are not optional.
  • There is a 30 hour/week minimum requirement.
  • There is a 3-month waiting period for benefits; however, it can be waived via the Status Update Form.
  • See below for Staff changes.

1) New hires

  • Complete the Status Update Form on our website.
  • If you are waiving the 3-month waiting period, select “No” when it asks, “Apply Benefits Waiting Period?” This means benefits will become effective on the hire date. Once processed this cannot be changed.
  • Employee packages will be sent directly to the employee.

2) Beneficiaries

  • If an Employee wants to change their beneficiary, please send an email to finance-benefits@thewcd.ca and we will send a Canada Life Change Form to be completed.
  • Be sure to have a named beneficiary and it is a good idea to have a contingent beneficiary.
  • If the beneficiary is under 18 years of age, a trustee must be identified.

3) Salary changes

4) Family changes

  • Marriage, name change, birth of a child, dependant, separation, divorce.
  • Please email finance-benefits@thewcd.ca for a Canada Life Change Form to be sent to you. Once completed and returned the changes will be made.

5) Terminations

  • It is very important we receive this information immediately as there is a time-sensitive conversion period.
  • Notify us by completing a Status Update Form.
  • Benefits are terminated at 11:59pm the same day as the employment termination date unless an extension is requested.
